Bikini Styles and Body Shapes

23 Jul

Bikinis have become common amongst beach going women of today. Bikinis have come a long way since being introduced as beach wear. There are various colors, patterns, styles and sizes to fit almost all body shapes. They can be easily bought from shops on the beach, online stores or simply at a bikini sale. Wearing the right style of bikini panty, that suits the shape of the body, can totally change the way a woman would look. In this post we will discuss some very basic tips that can help a woman to select the right style of bikini panties depending on the shape of her body.

Bikinis are designed in various ways. Some are designed to highlight as well as compliment certain features where as others are made to draw attention away from some of the body parts that a woman would rather not flaunt.

When a woman does not have the perfect looking lower abs and has excess weight on her stomach, somewhat like an apple body type, in this case the Tankini style swimsuit could be a good option. It is good to choose an extra long Tankini top with a ruching that would fit less clingy. Another alternative is wearing a bikini top that is paired along with a bottom that fully covers the buttocks and has a fold-over style waistline. The extra fabric will cover the waistline and make you feel comfortable.

If someone is a little self conscious about their wide hips and thighs and has a pear shaped body, it would be a mistake to wear a bigger bottom in order to cover the curves. Keep away from boy shorts, as the excess fabric would make the hips and thighs look even bigger. Wearing a bikini which is cut high on the legs, will draw focus away from the hips and thighs as it would make the legs look longer. A halter with a plunging V neckline or a patterned top, are some styles that you would want to pickup from a bikini sale, as they will work perfectly for you.

If you don’t really have the curves, particularly in the chest area, it means that you could have an athletic body type or perhaps a straight figure. Assuming that a plain and basic bikini top would not draw any attention towards a small bust can be a mistake. In fact, they could make the bust look even smaller. Wearing a bikini with ruffles, pleating, and patterns will add an illusion of excess bulk. Wearing skimpy bottoms like a string bikini would also work well, as it will help in balancing out a small bust.

If someone has a size that is larger than a B-cup, they must lookout for tops that have under wires or some other supportive built-in features in a bra. Keep away from tops that have high necklines.

When the top portion of the body appears bigger than the bottom portion, which often happens when someone has a large bust, wear a top that has wider straps, like a thick-strapped halter. Try and avoid wearing spaghetti straps, as they make the bust look bigger as well as make the shoulders look broader. Wearing a bigger bottom like a boy short or perhaps a swim skirt would help to balance out the figure as well as make the bust and shoulders to look smaller.

A woman is considered to be lucky if she has got an hourglass figure with proper hips, bust and a small waist. However, it is not easy to find the right bikini as the waistline could disappear against those curves, especially in woman with a small frame. Wearing a basic style bikini bottom, which is cut too high on the waist could make you appear stocky. The point is to emphasize on the waistline and elongate the torso. Wearing a skimpier style bikini and a bottom that sits low on the hips would elongate the torso as well as draw the attention away from the hips to the waist. Wear a top that offers just about enough coverage, this will make you look perfectly balanced.

These were some suggestions on choosing the right bikini style for different body shapes. Wearing the right style can make you look good and feel confident. So the next time you pickup a bikini at a bikini sale, make sure to choose the right style.

I have broad hips and thighs and am a little conscious about wearing something that attracts attention. Although I would love to wear a swimsuit at the beach I usually avoid wearing it. With the suggestions mentioned in this article I will try and pick something that suits me. Thanks.

I love the beach and spend a lot of time on the beach. I am slim and wear a basic bikini design. To be honest, am not quite sure if I really look good in it. I read through this article and have got an idea of what I would look good in.
